Monthly general meeting 7:00 pmMentoring 6:30 pm
Our guest speaker this month is: Tom Rearick
Beekeeping for Tom started out as a choice between honey or fresh eggs. Honey won out because bees take up less space and are much cleaner than chickens. What he never expected was that beekeeping would also feed his intellectual curiosity.
In his professional life,he is an engineer and serial software entrepreneur. He has worked on computer vision and artificial intelligence projects at General Electric and Lockheed.Tom started and sold two companies based on artificial intelligence technologies. He became intrigued as he learned about the intelligent behaviors of bees and their colonies. Tom was also humbled because - even with the unlimited resources of large defense contractors - we never created anything as smart as a bee.
He enjoys sharing his passion with others in classrooms, clubs, public demonstrations, and as a mentor. He serves as the webmaster for the Metro Atlanta Beekeepers Association and has written for Bee Culture magazine. He also enjoys cooking, woodworking, building & flying multirotors, and Airstreaming.
