One of Central Indiana Cycling’s recurring Neighborhood Rides, this is a slow-roll through the winding streets of Irvington. Rides begin and end at the Irvington Historical Society (Bona Thompson Memorial Center), 5350 University Ave, Indianapolis, IN 46219. For the 2026 season, leave at 10:00 a.m. on the following Saturdays: April 18th, May 16th, June 13th, July 18th, August 15th, September 5th, and October 17th. **All participants will need to sign a release in order to participate, which will be available before the ride starts. If you have an active Central Indiana Cycling membership, you’ve already signed this. If you are interested in becoming a member, please visit https://centralincycling.org/membership/. Central Indiana Cycling membership is not required to participate. Children must be accompanied by a responsible adult. Riders are responsible for making sure they and any of their dependents joining the ride follow the rules of the road, making sure it's safe to cross at intersections (don't assume the way is clear for you just because the person in front of you starts to cross the street). Ride leaders are not responsible for participants’ safety. Riders should make sure their bikes are in good working condition prior to the ride, including making sure tires are properly inflated, brakes are connected and working, chains are working, and quick release skewers/axles are securely fastened so the wheels don’t fall off. Helmets are encouraged. Also, come prepared to deal with mechanical issues that could come up with your bike during the ride, for example, spare inner tubes and a pump in case of flat tires, or having an alternative plan for getting home. Ride leaders are not responsible for making repairs.
A couple of things to keep in mind about the routes: The 2026 route is 8.5 miles, but other routes may be used that vary between 5 and 8 miles. The 8-mile routes should take about an hour if riding an average pace of 8 mph. Indianapolis is pretty flat, but even small hills can feel big on a bike. There are several "small" hills on the route. The route may cross active railroad tracks. Make sure to cross the tracks at 90 degree angle, to avoid wheels getting stuck in the grooves causing you to fall.
