Montclair is an independent folk-rock project based in Austin, Texas, born from the shared joy and curiosity of four friends. Their sound explores themes of self-discovery and emerging adulthood, weaving together vibrant melodies and heartfelt lyrics. From the beloved surf-rock groove of “Pastel Lies” to the wistful folk guitar wave in “Passing Through”, Montclair crafts a dynamic musical experience.
Their upcoming debut album, Heart is Alive!, explores their musical potential, and showcases their versatility and emotional depth. The title track, an upbeat anthem, and the enigmatic rock powerhouse “Coming to the Rescue” highlight the band's evolving sound and creative ambition.
Montclair's live performances are known for their energy and crowd engagement, earning them a strong following across Texas. They’ve played at renowned festivals and iconic venues, including House of Blues Houston and a sold-out Antone's Nightclub, sharing stages with nationally touring acts like Echosmith, The Brook and The Bluff, Dayglow, Giant Rooks, The Wldlfe, and Briscoe.
As they prepare for the release of their debut album, Montclair looks forward to the adventures and inspirations that lie ahead.
Barb
Music has always been a comforting force for Barb, but after putting her D-I athletic career and 3x NCAA top-finisher identity to rest, writing became her vessel for self-expression. Treating her ambitious music career like her athletic one, the former Texas Longhorn and Austin local spends all her free time writing, producing and playing guitar.
She balances her boldness with a sensitive and light-hearted perspective, exploring the complexities of friendship, love, and growing up in her subtly queer lens. Described most often as "feel-good indie rock" or "pop rock", her music effortlessly finds its place on playlists alongside artists like The Beaches, girl in red, Tash Sultana, Spacey Jane, and the 1975. And while she occasionally explores the weight of heartbreak, self-reflection, and mental health, her music most frequently serves as a sunny day at the pool or a road trip with your best friends.
