Explore the psychology, fantasy, and embodied allure of monsters — and uncover what your favorite creatures reveal about your desires.
About this Event

From vampires and werewolves to krakens, aliens, demons, and creatures beyond comprehension, monsters have long served as mirrors for our deepest fears, unmet desires, forbidden curiosities, and yearning for connection.

Together, we’ll explore the history and cultural evolution of monster fantasies, the surprising etymology of the word “monster” itself (“to reveal” or “to warn”), and why so many people are finding comfort, desire, and emotional resonance in the monstrous during an era of increasingly alienating modern romance. Through guided reflection, somatic exercises, imaginative scene-building, and hands-on demonstrations, we’ll move beyond the taboo or novelty of “monster fcking” to uncover what these fantasies may reveal about intimacy, attachment, surrender, safety, hunger, transformation, and unconditional love.

Whether you’re here for the intellectual intrigue, the emotional insight, the embodied engagements, or simply because you have a monster crush… you’ll certainly leave with a deeper appreciation for MonsterLovin'.

💡 What We’ll Explore:

👹 Nerdy & Naughty — We’ll discuss the history and psychology of monster desire across mythology, folklore, romance, horror, and modern media, alongside the etymology and symbolism behind “the monster” itself. Why are monsters so compelling? What do they reveal, warn us about, or liberate within us?

🖤 Monsters or Humans? — What makes fantastical monsters a way to escape from the "horrors" of modern dating culture or rote relationships with humans?

🧸 Interactive Design & Monster Toy Showcase — We’ll showcase a collection of creature-inspired toys, tools, and scene concepts while discussing how different “monster archetypes” create entirely different emotional experiences.

🌑 Guided Desire Meditation & Scene Building — Through a reflective guided meditation, participants will uncover the monsters that resonate most deeply with their psyche and begin crafting personalized monster-inspired scenes rooted in desire, fantasy, and the truth of the body.

🪞 Continuing Education — How can monster fantasies help us better understand ourselves, our attachment patterns, our desires, and our capacity for intimacy? We’ll discuss ways to continue exploring MonsterLover themes both within and beyond the workshop space.

Workshop Format
  1. Feel Free to Take Notes! If it helps you learn, we encourage you to bring a notepad to jot notes and reflections
  2. Interactions: The Workshop may include personal reflections, interactive demonstrations, and practical exercises. This may include solo/partner/group activities. Participate and opt-in to the extent of your comfort - you can also just sit back at any time and observe others!
  3. Come Alone or With Someone! Come solo or bring a partner, a friend, a group of coworkers, your frenemies, or your entire polycule! During the exercises, you'll have the opportunity to interact with other students & switch partners, which allows for practicing with familiar partners and new acquaintances. We do not pair people up and encourage guests to make friends and engage to their level of comfort. Couples can stay paired the whole time or choose to practice with others.
  4. Dress Code: Feel free to dress however you want, whether vanilla or spicy. There is a place to change outfits.
  5. Who Can Come: This workshop is open to all gender identifications, orientations, lifestyles, singles and couples. All experience levels welcome. 21+

AfterHours After the Workshop:

Afterwards, the lights go down, the music goes up, and the setting transforms into a fun space where you can put your new skills into action. Engage at your own comfort level—whether that means observing, casually chatting by the snacks, or connecting with others. This is not a hook-up style event. You make your own fun and a ticket does not automatically entitle you to any particular form of interaction with anyone. The focus is on consensually exploring, voyeuring, or discussing monster-inspired engagements in a safer, intentional environment.

Required Acknowledgement: It should go without saying, but we are going to spell it out clearly nonetheless: k¡nk and intimacy activities are inherently risky. Safety requires practice and cannot be guaranteed. By attending, you agree to participate at your own risk, conduct your own risk management, and agree to hold the event facilitators and facility harmless for any type of physical or emotional harm that may occur.
