Monochord Sound Meditation (Sound Bath) with Joule L’Adara

Creating a cascade of harmonics over a dreamy drone of strummed strings, the Monochord is a unique and softly powerful instrument that supports intricate introspection and self-healing. In this restorative session, participants are invited to lay down on yoga mats and receive a group sound therapy treatment. Developed by the feeltone Company in Germany, this unique sound immersion utilizes a protocol designed to fully facilitate the listener through a profound experience arc. Joule will expertly play the feeltone Monolina monochord plus supplemental instruments to guide participants into a light trance state. Specific playing techniques support Theta-dominated brain waves, where the receiver is cradled by the sound so they may stay conscious without falling asleep. This allows listeners to commune deeply with their subconscious minds, experience deep states of rest and inner peace, and often return with astonishing insights from one’s inner depths that can be taken forward and integrated into daily life. The session concludes with Joule’s ethereal singing voice, as the group is sung back to a vibrant waking state to emerge refreshed and renewed.

Joule L’Adara, MFA is an experimental vocalist, holistic vocal coach, and sound artist who has performed with the Metropolitan Opera and Carnegie Hall. She is also the Founder of Sounding Circles: a group facilitation vocal method bringing people into resonance through sound, and through which has been leading sound workshops, trainings, and retreats across the United States and internationally since 2009. Joule has enjoyed a 15-year artist partnership with feeltone: a therapeutic instrument company based in Germany building handmade monochord stringed instruments, and has been their official US sound therapy trainer since 2016. After many years living in NYC Joule is now based in Beacon, New York.
