Learn the fundamentals of monotype printing, a process that involves rolling ink onto a smooth plate to create individual and unique prints. This class is perfect for beginners and experienced artists alike, looking to explore new techniques and unleash their creativity. Monotype printmaking is a versatile and spontaneous technique that involves creating unique prints from a smooth, non-absorbent surface. Using ink or paint, artists can experiment with texture, color, and form to produce captivating images. This class is taught by Deborah Mitchell and all materials are provided.
Take Home Your Masterpieces. You will leave the workshop with a collection of your monotype prints, uniquely crafted and enriched with mixed media elements. These prints are a beautiful testament to your creative journey during the workshop.
Meet your Instructor - Deborah Mitchell
Deborah Mitchell is an artist with an MFA in printmaking. She grew up outside of Boston where her early influences were frequent trips to the Boston Museum of Fine Arts and her mother’s lush gardens. Her grandmother was a painter and naturalist who instilled an appreciation of nature. Her father skied Tuckerman’s Ravine in the 1940s and his sports cars inspired a love of outdoor adventure, travel, and speed.
Once she experienced the American West, Mitchell settled there drawn by the wide-open natural beauty. A retired university art professor, fine weather finds her in her backyard painting and gardening, or en Plein air sketching when motorcycling through spectacular Western landscapes. During cooler seasons, her home studio inspires printmaking, painting, mixed media, and experimentation.
