Tutustu Sri Lankan perinteisten naamioiden värikkääseen maailmaan toiminnallisessa taidepajassa Oulun taidemuseossa 23.8. klo 13–16. Taidepajassa opit naamioiden symboliikkaa, muovaat kipsipohjan, rakennat näyttävät piirteet ja koristelet naamiosi perinteisin kuvioin. Kotiin viemisinä saat ainutlaatuisen naamion ja maistat srilankalaisia makeisia! Tapahtuma sopii yli 7-vuotiaille. Mukaan mahtuu 12 henkilöä. Ilmoittautuminen tapahtuu taidemuseossa työpajapäivänä, ja osallistujat otetaan mukaan ilmoittautumisjärjestyksessä.
Taidepajan vetää Chathura Jayasekara, joka rakastaa luonnon ja ihmisten muotokuvien maalaamista.
”Olen opiskellut Sri Lankan taideperinteitä sekä useita muita tunnettuja kansainvälisiä taidesuuntauksia, ja olen intohimoinen jakamaan kulttuuriperintömme rikkautta. Tämän työpajan kautta toivon innostavani muita kokemaan luomisen iloa ja arvostamaan kulttuurien yhdistymisen kauneutta.”

Monikulttuurikalenteri2026: Sri Lankan Traditional Mask Making
Explore the vibrant world of Sri Lankan traditional masks in this hands-on art workshop at the Oulu Art Museum on 23.8. from 1 pm to 4 pm.
In the art workshop, you will learn about the symbolism of masks, shape a plaster base, build striking features, and decorate your mask with traditional patterns. You’ll take home a unique cultural mask and get to taste Sri Lankan sweets!
The event is suitable for ages 7 and above. Participant limit is 12 people. Registration takes place at the art museum on the workshop day. Participants will be accepted in the order of registration.
The art workshop is held by Chathura Jayasekara who loves painting nature and human portraits. “I have studied Sri Lankan art traditions along with several other well-known international artistic styles, and I’m passionate about sharing the richness of our cultural heritage. Through this workshop, I hope to inspire others to experience the joy of creating and to appreciate the beauty of cultural fusion.”
