Monetochka (Elizaveta Gyrdymova) has been the voice of the new generation in Russia since her breathtaking career start as a teenage indie pop sensation in 2018.
She conveys a clear message of peace in her lyrics. Monetochka left her home country immediately after Russia's illegal full scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022. She was proclaimed "foreign agent" by the Russian "Ministry of justice" in 2023 - and was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize by the initiative group at OsloMet in 2024. Monetochka has publicly condemned the war, she has raised funds for Ukraine's humanitarian needs at numerous charity concerts and she openly supports Ukraine’s fight for freedom and independence.
