Monday Swing is a weekly vintage swing dance practicum and social dance on Monday nights with DJ'ed music in a cozy SE PDX setting.*New* Lesson: $5

To cover all the content in time we will not be able to do a complete recap of each previous lesson. We ask that if you attend only the later sessions that you be comfortable with the uphold/downhold basic and the come around, or attend every lesson.
9/2 No dance! Labor Day Holiday
9/9 No lesson! First Monday Jam Session!
9/16 Lesson One: Balboa Basics
We'll be covering the two basic footwork patterns of Balboa, the uphold and downhold basics. We'll be diving into the connection, and caping the lesson off with the come around.
9/23 Lesson Two: Bal-Swing Staples
We'll start with practicing our come arounds then progressing into two bal-swing staples, the tossout and lollies!
9/30 Lesson Three: Out and In Fundamentals.
This will be a gentle introduction into the "Out and Ins", which is a foundational movement for transitioning into other more complex movements.
>>What's a practicum and social dance?
We DJ music just like a regular social dance. You can come out and just dance like normal, or you can come planning to work on something: Ask for feedback, work on a move, play with variations, master a routine.
>>Have a specific question?
Experienced dancers and local teachers are available at practicum to help out with sticky spots.
