About this Event
The Blue Room's Monday Night Jam continues with Angela Ward & Friends. Angela leads a 45-minute featured set, followed by an open jam session where musicians are invited to sit in and play.
If you know the Blue Room, you know Angela Ward. She's been part of this room since the 18th & Vine district reopened in 1997, when she wandered in during the opening festivities and sat down at the piano. Nearly three decades later, she's still here — one of the most respected keyboardists in Kansas City jazz.
Angela studied classical piano before discovering jazz at Florida A&M University. She's served as Musical Director for Jazz Night at the Sunflower Music Festival, conducted an 18-piece orchestra, and performs multiple times a week across the city with The James Ward Band. Her playing blends classical precision with jazz feel — harmonic sophistication that never loses the groove.
For Monday Night Jam, Angela steps out front with a hand-picked group of friends for the featured set, then the stage opens up. Bring your instrument. Bring your ears. This is Kansas City jazz in its most natural form — musicians playing together, feeding off each other, and making something new in the moment.
Featured artist: Angela Ward & Friends (45-minute set) + open jam to follow. FREE admission.
