About this Event
The sessions invite artists at all stages of their process to come along, read and discuss a play, and connect with others and build community, for free! The sessions offer artists the opportunity to practice sight reading skills which is invaluable for auditions, connect with new text and develop opinions around the work, and most importantly, forge connections with artists in a low stakes environment and do what they love for a few hours at the start of the week.
The plays are decided on the day to ensure people aren’t reading material they are already familiar with. Artists need a device they can read off, and a wifi connection – all plays read are available as a PDF/Online, so there’s no cost involved with sourcing the plays or printing. Characters are not cast in advance: actors jump in when a new character is introduced. We aim to select a huge variety of texts from a multitude of playwrights, and are inclusive in this selection process. There is never any pressure to read, people can observe and take things at their own pace. Anyone and everyone 18+ is welcome.
The sessions are held in Theatre Deli's cafe bar space, on Monday mornings 11AM-2PM from October 14th onwards.
