"Everything Remains Raw" investigates the deep-structure and Afro-Kinetic memory present in dance practices throughout the African Diaspora. This film dives into the genealogy of Afro-Caribbean retention present in dance practices throughout the diaspora and how it constructed and characterizes the movement practices demonstrated in America’s Afro-Latinx communities and the globalization of their aesthetic values. Open to all; pay what you can. The money will go towards a donation to Intangible Roots. More info here > https://www.moncelldurden.com/about-ir
About Monday Hangouts: every Monday, Hélène invites you to share a warm moment of exchange on the cultural aspects of Afro-descendant dances with guests and members of the community. Each week, we'll open this space to share our knowledge of jazz culture, strengthen understanding of our dances, socialize with peers and develop a greater sense of belonging to the Cat's Corner Community. Video and film screenings, open conversations, potluck and clothes swap, open practices and dance jams: it's going to be a sweet spring at Cat's Corner.
