Moody Gardens is inviting the public to celebrate the incredible journey of monarch butterflies and other pollinators during Monarch Madness: Pollinator Festival, a free educational event set for Saturday, Oct. 11.This family-friendly event will feature activities and exhibits aimed at raising awareness about the vital role pollinators play in ecosystems, as well as the threats they face. Biologists and conservation experts will be on-site to share their knowledge and answer questions about monarch butterflies, bees, and other pollinators.
Festival highlights include:
Monarch butterfly tagging, where guests can participate in hands-on tagging efforts that contribute to international tracking and research.
Interactive stations and activities for kids and adults to learn more about pollinators and how to support them.
Native plants for sale, offering visitors the opportunity to purchase pollinator-friendly plants to create their own wildlife habitats.
“Pollinators are critical to biodiversity and food security, yet their populations are declining at alarming rates,” said Jennifer Lamm, Conservation & Sustainability Manager at Moody Gardens. “This event is about inspiring action through education and giving families the tools to make a difference right in their own backyards.”
The event is free and open to the public, with activities running throughout the day on the Moody Gardens grounds.
