Introducing Mona Ray new works at L'Atelier. The art opening will be Friday 16th starting at 4pm , come and join us for some bubbly!The exhibit will stay only for the weekend Saturday 17th August 10am-4pm and Sunday 18th August 11am-3pm
Mona's Bio:
Born in Oregon in 1969, raised in Wyoming, with a couple of stops in the UK, abstract landscape artist Mona Ray has been based in La Jolla, California for almost two decades.
After private lessons with a local artist, she sold her first painting at age sixteen, when a passerby offered to purchase her plein-air study of the Teton Range.
Although Mona considered attending art school, her family's advice was to pursue a more certain path. But even with a BA and MA in English and a job at a major publishing house, the siren call of the brush was simply too strong. Mona found a small studio space and brought her focus back to painting.
Starting with her first solo show in 2001, Mona has exhibited her work professionally in San Diego, Los Angeles, and Denver. She has also taught painting and mixed media workshops, though her daily studio practice demands the majority of her time.
Mona works in a range of sizes using mixed media and oils, and her landscapes have been called “evocative, ethereal, and serene.” She is currently represented by Perry Gallery in La Jolla, California and Walker Fine Art in Denver, Colorado. Her work can also be seen at L'Atelier in San Diego and Emerald C Gallery in Coronado.
