RESOLUCIÓN – een woord dat in het Spaans vrouwelijk is en “iets dat beslist is” betekent – is een audiovisuele installatie in het kader van EUROPALIA ESPAÑA die de geschiedenis van de Spaanse cinema herinterpreteert via haar iconische actrices en enkele van de personages die zij vertolkten. Geïnspireerd door Serge Daney’s uitspraak “Het lichaam van de acteur overspant de hele cinema; het is haar ware geschiedenis,” is RESOLUCIÓN een minutieuze catalogus van gebaren die echo’s tussen verschillende tijdperken blootlegt, en onderzoekt hoe kledij en styling bepalende momenten in het leven van vrouwen weerspiegelen.
Naar aanleiding van de tentoonstelling gaan twee gerenommeerde Spaanse auteurs – Inés Martín Rodrigo en Gemma Ruiz Palà – die elk een andere generatie vertegenwoordigen, dieper in op hoe vrouwen doorheen de geschiedenis en vandaag worden afgebeeld in literatuur, film, mode en andere culturele uitingen. Tijdens deze MoMu & EUROPALIA Talk verkennen zij de rol en het beeld van vrouwen in kunst en cultuur, en hoe de verschillende levensfasen van vrouwen worden gerepresenteerd.

In conjunction with EUROPALIA ESPAÑA, RESOLUCIÓN – a word that in Spanish is feminine and means "something that is decided" – is an audiovisual installation that reinterprets the history of Spanish cinema through its iconic actresses and some of the characters they portrayed. Taking its cue from Serge Daney’s quote, “The body of the actor spans all cinema; it is its true history,” RESOLUCIÓN is a meticulous cataloging of gestures that reveals resonances between different eras and explores how clothing and styling reflect pivotal moments in women’s lives.
To accompany the exhibition, two acclaimed Spanish authors from two different generations – Inés Martín Rodrigo and Gemma Ruiz Palá – will delve into how women have been portrayed in literature, cinema, fashion, and other cultural forms throughout history and especially today. During this MoMu & EUROPALIA Talk, they will explore the role and image of women in the arts and culture and how different stages of women's lives are represented.
