Mommy & Me: A Group Art Exhibition

Mommy & Me is a group art exhibition and a joyful celebration of motherhood, creativity, and the magic of creating art side-by-side with our little ones. Hosted at the African Museum, Arts, & Cultural Center (AMACC), this event showcases the diverse talents of local artists Ayan Warsame, Nailah Ali, and Yasmin Yassin.

• A Unique Multigenerational Showcase: This exhibition is special because it features a unique inclusion of art created by the children of all three featured artists. Witness the creative bond in real-time as these mothers and their little ones represent their shared world through art.
• Diverse Artistry: Experience a range of professional mediums, including Ayan Warsame’s emotive sketch illustrations , Nailah Ali’s multi-dimensional abstract worlds , and Yasmin Yassin’s authentic visual storytelling through film.
• Themed Exploration: Discover works that explore themes of sisterhood , self-discovery , and the layered experiences of the East African diaspora community.
• Community Connection: Engage with a community-centered cultural space dedicated to uplifting African and diasporic voices through storytelling and art.
• Opening Reception: Join us for the official kickoff on Saturday, May 16th, from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM.
• Extended Viewing: The exhibition remains on view from May 16th through June 16th.

The exhibition is held at the African Museum, Arts, & Cultural Center located at 678 Snelling Ave N, St. Paul, MN 55104. Following the opening, you can visit during AMACC’s regular gallery hours, Tuesday through Friday from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM.
