The Green Grass Cloggers, of Greenville, NC will join Molasses Creek during the performance to share a few dances in their unique style. Clogging is an energetic, rhythmic folk dance that originated in the Appalachian Mountains during the mid-1700s, blending Irish, Scottish, English, Dutch-German, African, and Cherokee traditions. Dancers use specialized shoes with double metal taps to create percussive sounds, typically keeping time with the downbeat to bluegrass or old-time music.
