He's back - with his brand new special show "Discount Pharaoh" Mohammed Magdi is a globe-trotting stand-up comedian currently based in Hong Kong. We were lucky enough to host Moh on our launch night show at the brand new SpeakEasy Theatre which was televised on ABC Australia/Asia. We're delighted he wanted to tour his new special here for YOU! We’re delighted Mohammed joins us for his second visit to Comedy in Cambodia. His hilarious brand-new show – Discount Pharaoh – is a sideways look at the highs and lows of being an Egyptian, both in Egypt, and the big wide world!
Born in Egypt, Mohammed started his stand-up career in 2013 in Shanghai, China, where he was a regular feature, MC, and headliner at China’s only full-time comedy club, and then went on to headline and perform in other cities across the globe, including Melbourne, Sydney, Singapore, Moscow, Beijing, Shenzhen, Shanghai, Hangzhou, Suzhou, Wuhan, Xiamen, Kuala Lumpur, Jakarta, Siem Reap, Phnom Penh, Seoul, Yangon, Tokyo, Fukuoka, Osaka, Manila, Taipei, Kaohsiung, Bangkok, Hua Hin, Dubai, and Cairo.
He is the founder and producer of Backstage Comedy.
Career highlights:
Opening act for Jim Gaffigan on his “Quality Time” tour in Shanghai in 2019, and the opening act for Gad Elmaleh on his “Dream Tour” in Shanghai in 2018, as well as Joe Wong on his The Twin Tariff tour in Hong Kong in 2025.
Worked with Neal Brennan, Joe Wong, Mark Normand, Zainab Johnson, Kurt Metzger, Ari Shaffir, and Kyle Kinane.
He sold out his first run at the prestigious Melbourne International Comedy Festival 2024 with a split bill show titled Too Haram to Handle.
