About this Event
To celebrate Oscar fever infecting the hearts and minds of the world, Normal Cinema Club presents a month of movies about da movies. For our final screening, we team up with Best Boy Magazine to bid farewell to awards season by doffing our caps to the best genre of films of all… the biopic.
Every awards season we get one big name actor pretending to be another big name, usually with a prosthetic or a gimmick, and whilst these are 'lauded' at the time they are usually forgotten soon after. Only one biopic has stood the test of time and truly paid tribute to one of our greatest music legends, WALK HARD: THE DEWEY COX STORY.
Inspiring the likes of Bob Dylan and the Beatles, probably also Robbie Williams, Dewey Cox was a musical maverick like no other. WALK HARD details his highs and lows beautifully, with a rare dramatic turn from lead John C. Reilly. Prior to the feature, Normal Cinema Club and Best Boy Magazine will pay tribute in their own way to the beautiful American institution of the Oscars. They’ve got Oscar fever, hope you’ve got it too.
The Beanbag Cinema is a micro-cinema venue situated on the ground floor with a gender-neutral restroom. Please get in touch with any questions about accessibility. Doors will open at 7.30pm, with the first film beginning shortly after 8pm. There will be a short break before the feature. This is a strictly 18+ event.
Normal Cinema Club is supported by Cinema For All and FilmHubNI, and wishes to thank the Belfast Film Festival for their continued support, and Molly Qualter for her season artwork.
