About this Event
Have you thought of writing a memoir?
Reading Force is pleased to offer a workshop on writing a memoir, with expert help from a publisher and memoir writer. Based on workshops that have already proven very effective with military families, we offer guidance on how to capture your thoughts, put them in order – and ensure that access remains in future. The seminar will feature:
· First hand testimony of those involved
· Information on how to start writing
· Guidance on how to store and preserve your material in future
· Details of how to prepare information for a publisher, if that’s what you want to do
Recording a personal history does not have to be for sale; just knowing it exists for the future can be a huge comfort. And nor does it have to be the serviceperson who writes it up – the partner or children of military families all tend to have had interesting lives.
What is more, research among those involved has confirmed that they experienced significant personal benefits: to their health and wellbeing. They also gain the comforting knowledge that the story they have held in their heads for so long will survive - and they are no longer responsible for remembering.
