It is estimated that 120,000 people are victims of Modern slavery and human trafficking in the UK. How can this be possible in 2024? As members of the community and volunteers, you are likely to come in contact with potential victims of modern slavery. Would you be able to recognise the signs? In this scenario-based training session, led by training officers from the Community safety and wellbeing team at West Sussex County Council, we will be exploring the scale of modern slavery in the UK and in West Sussex, the various forms of modern slavery, the signs and the reporting process.
Training Objectives
The aim of this training session is to support you in gaining a basic knowledge of what Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking is and how to recognise and report it.
Learning Outcomes
If you apply what you have learnt in this webinar you will be able to;
· Define what Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking is.
· Recognise the context of Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking in relation to culture, society and the law.
· Identify the underlying causes of Modern Slavery.
· Identify some of the different types of Modern Slavery and their identifying features.
· Recognise when Modern Slavery is occurring.
· Know what to do if you suspect that Modern Slavery is taking place, including referrals to the National Referral Mechanism (NRM)
