Kansas City’s premier adjudicated choreographer’s showcase celebrates contemporary and modern dance works from the region’s most talented choreographers. Join us on Valentine's Day for an unforgettable evening of dance! Modern Night is a choreographer's Showcase presented by City in Motion on Saturday, February 14, at 7:30 pm at the historic Gem Theater.
Founded in 2024, The Young Choreographer’s Showcase will return on-stage at Modern Night. This workshop offers students ages 15-21 the opportunity to work with Kansas City professionals on choreographic methods and mentorship throughout their creative processes. City in Motion’s Young Choreographer Showcase presented at Modern Night is an integral part of dance education for the emerging artists of in the area and provides a respected platform for young choreographers to share their work.

Currently in its 40th anniversary season, City in Motion Dance Theater has provided opportunities for local choreographers to present their work through "Modern Night," “New Dance Series”, and “Dance in the Park”. Co-Artistic Director Roberta Foudree will be available for interviews. Interviews with participating choreographers may be requested but cannot be guaranteed.
