About this Event

The mock tribunal is an annual event and the highlight of the CIPDNI calendar annually. It is valuable because it will provide a safe, practical environment for employees to understand legal processes, improve decision-making skills, and build confidence in handling real-life workplace disputes.

This event will cover the full process of an employment tribunal hearing, giving participants a realistic experience of what happens in practice. Common areas include:

Case Preparation – Reviewing documentation, witness statements, and understanding roles.
Legal Framework – Key employment law principles, unfair dismissal, discrimination, grievance handling.
Hearing Procedure – Opening statements, examination and cross-examination of witnesses, presenting evidence.
Decision-Making – How tribunals reach conclusions and apply the law to facts.
Practical Skills – Questioning techniques, managing evidence, and handling objections.
Common Pitfalls – Mistakes employers make and how to avoid them.
