Over the course of 6 x 2 hour sessions, you will transform a piece of white fabric (approx 22" x 16") into a pictorial or abstract quilted wall hanging. Dates for the diary
Week 1 - 28th August
Week 2 - 11th Sept
Week 3 - 25th Sept
Week 4 - 9th Oct
Week 5 - 23rd Oct
Week 6 - 6th Nov
Techniques will include dyeing, printing, layering and embellishing fabric using various techniques and materials provided by Sam.
Week 1 - Dyeing your main background fabric and other contrasting scraps to create the base.
Week 2 - Printing and stamping your fabrics to create depth and richness.
Week 3 - learn how to create texture or a focal point through adding layers of fabrics, dyes and stitching.
Week 4 - Exploring quilting methods to add additional personalisation and depth to your work.
Week 5 - Add extra embellishments as highlights using paints, beads and couching threads, getting your quilt ready for finishing.
Week 6 - Finishing your quilted wall hanging with a faced binding and hanging sleeve.
Materials - all you need to bring to class isa ziplock bag or tub (week 1 only), your sewing machine from week 3 a sewing kit and any embellishments you might like to add to the piece
Note - This class can be taken using a sewing machine or by hand sewing if preferred.
Work sheets will be provided.
• materials, light refreshments and 12 hours expert tuition are included in the class fee.
• Bring your own sewing machine and basic sewing kit or contact Just Sew Simple to buy the basic tools required or arrange equipment hire for the class.
• Full payment of £130 is required at the time of booking
•. Standard Students requirement list - sewing machine with cable, extension table, darning /free machining/walking/zigzag feet, sewing kit, too include scissors, needles, pins and a tape measure. Paper scissors, paper, pencil, ruler, rotary cutter and mat, quilting ruler (all available to purchase in store in advance of the class if required)
• Cancellations Policy. Classes can be re-booked if cancelled with at least 7 days notice (50% with 2 days notice) With less than 48 hours, classes can only be re-booked if Just Sew Simple are able to re-book the original place.
