Discover the joy of playful experimentation in this hands-on workshop. You’ll create your own Spring-inspired mixed media image using intuitive painting techniques such as inks and bleach, watercolours, and wax resist.Once your painting begins to take shape, you’ll explore free machine embroidery — using stitch as a mark-making tool to enhance and transform your artwork.
There will be plenty of options for those who wish to take the theme further: experimenting with carbon paper for drawing, or incorporating stencils. Mixed media is wonderfully creative — there are no rules, just curiosity and a willingness to have a go.
No prior experience is necessary. Delny, an experienced teacher, will guide you through the process and respond to individual ideas and needs.
Please bring your own sewing machine. If this is a problem, spares can be arranged with prior notice. All other materials and resources will be provided.
Optional extras: plenty of inspiration will be provided but feel free to bring Spring images/flowers etc or any sewing materials (threads, cottons, fabric scraps) you’d like to use.
Delny is a Shropshire based mixed media textile artist and teacher. Her work is inspired by nature and her surroundings – particularly the Shropshire landscape.
