About this Event

MISSY RAINES: www.missyraines.com

"In her latest album, "Highlander," bluegrass/Americana icon Missy Raines reflects on her career and native West Virginia, symbolizing both her past and future. With a band that feels like home, Raines embraces her roots and musical journey. Renowned in the industry, she's earned numerous awards, including 10 for "Bass Player of the Year" from the International Bluegrass Music Association. "Highlander" features top musicians like Kathy Mattea and Michael Cleveland, embodying Raines' renewed embrace of bluegrass. She sees parallels between today's resurgence of bluegrass and its rich history of innovation, a tradition she's honored throughout her career."

Allegheny is Ben Garnett on guitar, Eli Gilbert on banjo, Ellie Hakanson on fiddle, and Tristan Scroggins on mandolin. The band is named for the Allegheny highlands of West Virginia where Raines grew up. This band is a significant nod to her deep traditional bluegrass roots. The music is traditional and hard-driving at its core but energized with Raines’ well-known penchant for originality and innovation.

FOG HOLLER: https://www.fogholler.band/

"Fog Holler is a bluegrass band with an edge. What gives the band that edge is a topic of hot debate. For some, it’s musicianship - these bluegrass cats shred. For others, it’s the songwriting, traditional in style but topical in substance. Sometimes, they undeniably snare people with the squad factor - folks see 4 grown adults in matching monochrome, and they get curious. The secret, according to Fog Holler, is simply that they write and play bluegrass in 2024, with similar intention but very different context from the genre’s originators. Inspired by a range of influences from The Stanley Brothers to Buck Owens to Meshuggah, Fog Holler breathes fresh life into well worn forms like the M**der ballad and the power waltz. Described by two-time Grammy Award Winner Cathy Fink as “The next generation of the many shades of grass”, Fog Holler’s captivating tunes and coordinated outfits are quickly enthralling longtime bluegrass fans and newcomers alike." -Artist Bio
