About this Event
Mission Investors Exchange (MIE) is pleased to announce the 2025 Mission Investing Institute. As MIE’s introductory learning program, our Institute is designed to help philanthropy professionals get started in impact investing or advance their practice. The Institute will take place from May 5-7, 2025 in Atlanta. An optional Impact in Action site visit will be offered on May 5, 2025 and required programming will be held May 6-7, 2025 at the Russel Innovation Center for Entrepreneurs. The program also includes a virtual introductory session on April 29, 2025. Institute sessions will provide philanthropy professionals with best practices to develop the strategy and capacity for an effective mission-aligned investing program. Participants should expect an action-oriented, interactive learning environment, with space to workshop organizational solutions, apply learnings, and network with fellow philanthropy and finance practitioners.
The Institute’s curriculum will be led by industry experts and provide practical tools and examples that are applicable across the various stages of impact investing. Topics to be covered include defining impact investing and other key terms, understanding investment approaches, designing and implementing an impact investing portfolio, leading with racial equity, sourcing and underwriting investments, financially monitoring a portfolio, and measuring social impact. Attendees will leave the Institute with tangible examples and next steps for scaling their impact investing programs.
Eligibility
The Institute is designed primarily for foundations and other philanthropic asset owners. Institute content will be most useful to practitioners with less than four years of mission-aligned investing experience or those who are seeking strategies and frameworks to advance their work. We encourage foundation CEOs, Presidents, and leadership, as well as finance, investment, and program staff attendance. If an organization registers more than two participants, we prefer that at least one attendee is a board or investment committee member. Based on demand, registration may move to a waitlist process with preference given to MIE members, affiliated partners, first time attendees, and diverse participants.
