Creative session exploring objects, printmaking, and composition to engage with the complex narratives in Eddy Kamuanga Ilunga's paintings.
About this Event

Join us for Missing Stories, a CPD teacher training led by artist and educator Esther Adesigbin, designed to deepen understanding of underrepresented narratives, especially those shaped by western industrial impacts. This interactive session will engage with storytelling through symbolic objects, printmaking, and painting composition.

Inspired by the Eddy Kamuanga Ilunga: Nature Morte exhibition, participants will explore how still life, figures, and the use of empty space on the canvas can create tension and add depth to narratives. We’ll experiment with techniques to evoke both presence and absence, using textures, card forms, and collaborative compositions that amplify complex stories.

Led by artist educator Esther Adesigbin, this training session aims to develop innovative pathways of integrating diverse creative perspectives into the classroom setting.

Key Takeaways:

Symbolism and Storytelling: Using symbolic objects to represent untold narratives.

Composition Techniques: Exploring the power of empty space, still life, and figure composition to convey emotional depth.

Exploring Socio-Environmental Themes: Reflecting on industry’s impact on communities and environments in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
