Missing From Home 35 Year Celebration
Celebrating 35 Years of The Children's Society Manchester’s Missing from Care Service
Join The Children’s Society as we celebrate an incredible milestone - 35 years of delivering their Manchester Missing from Care service, currently commissioned by Manchester City Council.
We are immensely proud of the lasting impact this service has had in supporting cared for young people when they go missing. This event is an opportunity to recognise the dedication of our local team, the strength of our partnership with Manchester’s Complex Safeguarding Hub, and the vital role we all play in improving outcomes for cared for young people, their parents and carers.
Over the past 35 years the service has evolved significantly, not only providing direct support, but driving system change to strengthen responses and improve safeguarding practice and approaches to Return Home Interviews. Together, we continue to shape more effective, compassionate systems for cared for children and young people.
We are delighted that Mark Russell OBE, CEO of The Children’s Society, will open the event, followed by reflections and insights from our local team.
This will be a chance to:
• Celebrate the journey and achievements of the service
• Explore how partnership working has strengthened support for missing young people
• Reflect on how we can continue to improve consistency and quality in return home interviews
• Consider what more we can do together to better support cared for young people who go missing
We warmly invite partners and stakeholders to join us in marking this important occasion and shaping the future together. Light refeshments will be available.
