For kids:Nine-year-old Oliver is practically a genius. He gets straight A’s, is on the honor roll, and is part of the robotics team. Oliver’s father is a genius too, a scientist, who was exploring a fissure at the bottom of the Mariana Trench in the Western Pacific Ocean when he mysteriously disappeared. Oliver is determined to find his father, and embarks on an adventure of a lifetime.
Do you have the guts (and smarts?) to travel half-way around the world, dive deep into the ocean, and help Oliver find his dad?
For parents:
This series of 11 challenges is all about the Mesozoic Era. Your child will explore the oceans to find that through the new-found fissure is a hidden world of dinosaurs. They’ll not only learn cool facts about dinosaurs and fossils, but they’ll also imagine, design, and create inventions to solve various problems encountered by the group of explorers. They’ll tackle academic skills such as simple and complex machines, the engineering design process, writing procedures, reading to find information, calculating and measuring to scale, and Earth science facts.

What is a challenge quest? A challenge quest focuses on 21st century skills such as problem solving, collaboration, outside-the-box and critical thinking, and innovation. This set of activities introduces a problem or mystery in a story-like journal and allows free exploration to discover new knowledge and to use tools in a different / new way. Challenges integrate academics with a child’s natural curiosity and creativity while teaching life skills via our Maker Lab Studios. Learners have an intrinsic desire to learn new things and gain new skills because we focus on one’s personal best. We encourage trying. We establish that mistakes are okay and we can learn from them. Learners build, deepen, or cement understanding by making. We define the learning goals and provide structure, scaffolds, and support for learners in the Challenge Quest Journal. We provide a Challenge Kit and sometimes an alias that aligns with the story characters.
