2025 marks the 50th anniversary of the Vietnam War.The Vietnam War was the longest in American history, costing the nation 56,000 lives, 300,000 wounded, 1,200 missing, and $141 billion. Who were the Vietnamese, and what was their fight all about? How did the United States get into the war? What were the strategic, diplomatic, and domestic factors that determined the way we fought the war? Controversy continues to swirl around American involvement in the Vietnam conflict.
Mr. Arn Kind is a teacher with 48 years’ experience. Through multi-media presentations including artifacts, videos, music, drama, role-playing, and living history experiences, attendees will learn about the significance of the Vietnam War to American and Minnesota history. Artifacts include soldiers’ uniforms, weapons, and equipment. Weapons are non-firing reproductions that are safe to be handled and displayed.
This program is part of our Visible Veterans Series, made possible with a grant through SELCO and the Minnesota Arts and Cultural Heritage fund, and in partnership with the City of La Crescent, La Crescent Historical Society, Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 11542, and American Legion Post 595.
