Join Butterfly Pavilion to unleash your creativity by creating a one-of-a-kind miniature ecosystem in this hands-on class led by The Terrorium Shop, a Denver-based natural history store renowned for its expertise in natural preservation. Design and assemble a stunning preserved display that captures the beauty of nature. From vibrant moss to delicate, dried florals, every element is thoughtfully provided for you to build a unique, tiny world with your personal touch—a keepsake to cherish for years to come. This Experience connects directly to Butterfly Pavilion’s mission of fostering an appreciation of invertebrates and learning more about invertebrate research, conservation, and education by encouraging a deeper knowledge and appreciation for the small but mighty creatures that shape our ecosystems.
A special focus will be placed on carpenter bees, often misunderstood yet incredibly important native pollinators. Unlike honey bees, carpenter bees are solitary and do not produce honey, but they are excellent pollinators thanks to their large size and unique foraging behavior. These gentle bees help support flowering plants and local food systems, and while they’re known for nesting in wood, they rarely cause structural damage when left undisturbed.
Come create, learn, and celebrate beauty and importance of invertebrates, one tiny ecosystem at a time.
