Immerse yourself in the beauty of sacred music from a variety of traditions and eras, and reflect on how music connects us with the Spirit. Through deep listening, contemplation, and dialogue, we’ll explore the ways music moves within us, inviting a sense of stillness, inspiration, and connection. Together, we’ll practice listening with our hearts—and listening to our hearts—for what arises. DANIEL PICKENS-JONES got his start as a sacred musician at the age of 8 as a chorister in the Grace Cathedral Choir of Men and Boys, San Francisco. He has been a member of the Trinity Choir since 2016, and in December 2023 taught a Wednesday class series on the medieval carol-singing tradition. A master's graduate of the Eastman School of Music, Daniel has been a musicianship instructor, a professional baritone, a choir director, a corporate operations professional at Google and Airbnb, and a restaurateur. He remains an active professional singer in the Portland area and edits and publishes choral music editions under Catchword Music Press (catchwordmusic.com).
DAVID MITCHELL has contributed to numerous musical and spiritual pursuits at Trinity, including teaching classes, leading a Sunday morning contemplative sit, accompanying the Church at the Commons service, and playing for Alternate Liturgies. He helps lead a monthly Taizé service at St. David of Wales.
