Overview:
Mindfulness in Recovery: Embracing the Heart Practices is a 3-hour workshop, open to anyone in recovery and those supporting someone on a recovery journey. focusing on the powerful heart practices of mindfulness: loving-kindness, compassion, empathetic joy, and equanimity. In this safe and supportive environment, participants will learn to cultivate greater self-acceptance and emotional resilience, key skills that can be challenging but profoundly healing in the recovery journey. Through guided meditation, reflection, and group discussion, we’ll explore how these foundational practices can deepen one's connection to oneself and others, encouraging lasting peace and clarity.
Purpose and Intention:
The purpose of this workshop is to provide participants with practical tools for integrating mindfulness and compassion into their recovery, especially during moments of challenge. Recovery often involves confronting difficult emotions, thoughts, and triggers that can undermine progress. By focusing on heart practices, we can learn to navigate these experiences with kindness and stability, ultimately being empowered to maintain balance and groundedness.
The intention of "Mindfulness in Recovery" is to learn how to embrace these heart-centered practices as a part of daily living, both within and outside the context of recovery. By the end of this workshop, participants will have a toolkit of mindfulness practices that will help cultivate compassion, enhance self-acceptance, and maintain a balanced perspective, fostering sustainable inner peace, enriching the recovery experience and supporting long-term wellbeing
What to Expect:
Through a blend of guided meditation, reflective exercises, and group discussions, we will explore each of the four heart practices in an interactive way, fostering a sense of connection to both the inner self and as a community. Activities will include loving-kindness meditation for self and others, compassion-building exercises to meet emotional pain with understanding, appreciative joy practices to celebrate meanignful moments, and actions for finding equanimity amidst life’s inevitable ups and downs.
