Youth create mindful designs or join the Media Fashion team to capture the journey-ending with a powerful student-led runway fashion show.About this Event
Mindful Fashion: Teen Design & Wellness Experience
Project 860 Youth-Led Girls Committee, in partnership with CNTR and supported by Middletown Public Schools, invites middle school students to a youth-led fashion program focused on creativity, wellness, and self-expression.
Running biweekly Sundays from Nov 30, 2025, to Apr 25, 2026, students will:
- Design a mindful clothing line using the Color Wheel of Emotions
- Learn sewing techniques with guidance from professional seamstress Mary Ruth Shields of United Sewing & Design
- Bring designs to life through hair, makeup, music, and modeling on the fashion runway
- Explore media, styling, and promotion departments to showcase and share the program
- Opportunity to participate in the upcoming fashion show on Saturday, April 25, 2026 located at the Hartford Convention Center
Free for students; donations and sponsors are welcome to keep programs accessible. ( suggested donations $10 to $20 per student)
