Drink Less in 6 Weeks!
About this Event

Mindful Drinking 101:

A 6-Session Group Coaching Workshop Series for Women

Stress Drinking? Alone Drinking?
Social Drinking? Emotional Drinking?
Lack-of-Emotional Drinking?
Bored Drinking? Habit Drinking?

It can be hard to exit these habit loops alone!

These workshops are designed for women who fall into the cracks between “alcoholic” and “normal” drinker, who are concerned about their drinking but don’t feel they belong in a traditional abstinence-only recovery program.

(In other words, "drinking less" is a viable goal!)

This 6-Session workshop will be held via Zoom.

As much as possible, please plan to attend all of each session, with video on, as the group process is an important part of the experience.

All practices will be available on a platform called Canvas, should you have to miss a session. But please try not to. 😊

Learn to Reduce Your Drinking Through:

IFS (Internal Family Systems) Parts Work: Bringing to Light the Parts of You That are Involved in Your Individual Addictive Process

  • Understanding your Inner Negotiators (The parts of you that show up and encourage you to drink, seeming to want to sabotage you)
  • Working with your Inner Rebel (The part that says F—It!)
  • Befriending your Inner Critics (The parts that pass judgment on the whole business)
  • Gaining insights into what it is the different parts of you are really seeking

Mindfulness Practices

  • Mindful Drinking (What’s it feel like to actually slow down and take apart the drinking process? All answers are welcome!)
  • Urge Surfing (Riding the waves of cravings)
  • Self Compassion (Because beating oneself up can activate Shame, which then becomes a trigger)
  • Self Hypnosis (Learning to work with deeper parts of yourself)
  • Somatic Experiencing (Learning to tune into the Emotional Body, key to emotional regulation and stress reduction)

Practical Tools for Moderation You Can Implement Immediately

Community Support: Goal setting, group processing, and accountability, extending to between-sessions peer support.

Each session will have a targeted focus on one or more specific aspects. There will be group discussions and smaller breakout room discussions. Many participants walk away with new friendships and support that extends way beyond the program!

* Mindful Drinking is a Harm Reduction modality. Harm reduction empowers the client to determine their own path and outcome, whether it be drinking reduction or abstinence. The stress reduction tools offered here can be applied not just to drinking but to all areas of life.

Please be prepared to show up fully for yourself and your colleagues by giving yourself a break from texts, apps, etc during class time. These workshops are experiential, and include meditation, mindful journaling, and other contemplative practices. You're encouraged to parcticipate fully in each practice, and will be invited to share as little or as much of your experience as is comfortable for you.

This program works best if you can devote 15-20 minutes/day to the home practices, plus daily check-ins with assigned partners for support between classes. You will change partners each week so that you get to know

Quotes from recent participants:
“For the first time I felt that I was able to be transparent about my issues and feelings along with people that have similar ones. You facilitated in such a loving and gentle way. I felt at home and truly cared about."

"You obviously found your calling and I am grateful to have found you.”

"The conscious drinking sessions with Beej were so powerful for me!! I highly recommend them to anyone who wants to learn practical and empowering strategies to help feel more present, self-aware and able to make healthy choices."

"As someone who has struggled with overdrinking and overeating for many years, I appreciated how nicely these sessions complemented the experience I'd had with moderation meetings. As always, Beej creates a warm and open space where participants can feel comfortable sharing and being vulnerable, while also covering a lot of topics in an interactive format. As someone who has carried around a lot of shame and self-criticism, I really feel like these sessions opened up some more space for me to find self-compassion and acceptance. I am very grateful!"
