About this Event

These monthly sessions at Solid State Books offer practical tools for handling difficult conversations with more calm and clarity — whether they’re with a partner, kids, strangers, coworkers, or yourself.

Each gathering will focus on a specific mindfulness or communication practice, such as listening without interrupting, speaking clearly under stress, working with silence, or pausing before reacting. Through simple exercises, discussion, and short guided practices, participants will learn realistic ways to reduce stress and create more space in everyday conversations.

The series is designed to be flexible and responsive, evolving based on what participants are navigating in real life. Come once or return monthly — each session stands on its own and offers tools you can use immediately.

You’ll leave each session with practical tools to handle difficult conversations more calmly, communicate more clearly, and feel less overwhelmed.

Cynthia Kane is an author, meditation and mindfulness teacher, and intentional communication expert who helps people navigate difficult conversations with more presence, honesty, and care. She is the author of several books on mindfulness and communication, including her latest The Pause Principle: How to Keep Your Cool in Tough Situations, and her work focuses on reducing stress, increasing self-awareness, and creating healthier relationships at home and at work.

Cynthia has spent over a decade teaching individuals, groups, and organizations how to listen more deeply, speak more clearly, and respond thoughtfully in moments of conflict and uncertainty. Her approach is practical, compassionate, and grounded in mindfulness — offering tools people can use immediately in their everyday lives.
