"Between Light and Myth" is a fragile balance between silence and voice past and present individual experience and collective memory.
On November 5 at 6 p.m. artists Mindaugas Pupelis and Gerda Grigaliūnaitė invite you to the opening of their painting textile and sculpture exhibition „Tarp šviesos ir mito“ (Between Light and Myth) at the UMI Gallery (Užupio g. 2A).
The combination of two artistic languages creates a multi-layered exhibition in which personal emotional states meet collective history. It is a journey through inner states and cultural narratives through what we hide within ourselves and what we as a society leave for future interpretations. Through painting textiles and symbolic imagery the artists invite the viewer to immerse themselves in spaces where reality intersects with myth and echoes of the past resonate with contemporary emotional states.
Mindaugas Pupelis (born in 1995) is a young artist and painter who studied Monumental Art ( mural and mosaic) and Site-specific Art ( mural and mosaic) at the Vilnius Academy of Arts. Since 2023 he has been a member of the Lithuanian Artists' Union and actively organises group and solo exhibitions in Vilnius. In his work we see a synthesis of environmental observation and mythology balancing the inner world and outer visibility.
Gerda Grigaliūnaitė (born 1995) is a painter textile designer and sculptor. The young artist graduated from Robert Gordon University in Scotland (Gray's School of Art). Gerda has presented her work at "New Designers 2019" in London and at Lithuanian art fairs. Her work is dominated by playfulness moodiness and authentic artistic reality revealed through painting textile art and sculpture.
The opening of the exhibition "Between Light and Myth" will take place on November 5 at 6 p.m. at the Užupis Art Incubator Gallery (Užupio g. 2A Vilnius).
The exhibition will be open until November 28 during the UMI Gallery's opening hours: III-V 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM.
