What if you could paint spontaneously without worrying about the outcome? In this fast-paced yet deeply reflective three-hour class, we’ll dive into the power of spontaneous, emotional expression through painting. Guided by artists Laura Tarnoff and Mickey Bond, this class invites you to develop a deeper connection to your creative voice and to let go of limiting expectations. Through a series of warm-up exercises, we’ll connect with our emotions and energy to produce marks and shapes without following a set image or reference. Instead we’ll paint instinctively allowing forms, abstract shapes, a figure, a place, or something entirely unexpected to develop. Along the way, we’ll learn some essential principles of composition—like balance, rhythm, and focal points and practice those principles in real time to create visually compelling work. Expect to layer, alter, and refine your work as you allow your painting to develop naturally.
"Mimosas and a Masterpiece” at Artful Soul is a fun painting party team-taught by professional Santa Fe artists Mickey Bond and Laura Tarnoff. Offered once a month, these creative Sunday afternoons are a great way to unwind, relax with friends, share a special date, or try something new in a supportive environment. No art experience required. Everything you need is at hand in our boutique art studio. Enjoy a mimosa and brunch snacks. We also invite you to bring your own beverage and snack.
