This bilingual (French/English) Vancouver quintet draws on Brazilian sambas, French chanson, cabaret music, and jazz to concoct a unique blend of gorgeous melodies, quirky lyrics, incredible grooves, and sky-high improvisations. Mimosa has recorded four critically acclaimed albums and has appeared at numerous festivals in Canada, including the Vancouver and Montreal Jazz Festivals. The group’s music is composed predominantly by pianist Anna Lumiere, with contributions from and collaborations with other band members. Mimosa is Rebecca Shoichet (vocals), Anna Lumiere (piano/accordion), Karen Graves (sax/flute/vocals), Conrad Good (bass) and Bernie Arai (drums).
