Release Konzert @ROTER SALONMidori Hirano übersetzt ihre klassische Musikausbildung mit digitalen Sounds, field recordings und subtil eingesetztem Processing in elektronische Musik. Unter dem Alias MimiCof erkundet Hirano den Bereich experimentellerer Musik – präzise ausgearbeitete rhythmische Muster mit fein verwobenen Melodien und Harmonien. Ihr neues Album Distant Symphony erscheint am 11. Juni auf Karlrecords und wird erstmals live im Roten Salon zu hören sein. Während ihr letztes Album Moon Synch auf einem analogen Buchla-Synthesizer aufgenommen wurde, entstand ihr neuestes Werk Distant Symphony auf dem EMS SYNTHI 100. Alle Klänge des Instruments wurden zunächst als einzelne Samples aufgenommen, dann gemischt und zu drei langen Kompositionen modifiziert, sodass der:die Hörer:in die Einzigartigkeit und klangliche Vielfalt der Maschine erleben kann. Hirano versteht ihr Album als eine Geste des Respekts gegenüber dem Charakter des SYNTHI 100: obwohl es ein „vintage instrument“ ist, hat es die Schönheit seines modernen Sounds niemals verloren.

Bernd Norbert Würtz alias hÄK bedient Modularsynthesizer, selbst verlötete Schaltkreise und diverse Kontrollregler, Philipp Danzeisen spielt ein mit Triggern und Sensoren erweitertes Schlagzeug. Diese beiden Pole werden als konstanter musikalischer Dialog zu einem eigenständigen Ganzen verbunden. Am besten manifestiert sich das bei Live-Auftritten des Duos: Zwischen Drones, Abstraktion und Noise-Attacken, getrieben von einem abstrakten Verständnis von Jazz. Das Debütalbum von hÄK / Danzeisen erscheint im Frühjahr 2023 auf Karlrecords.

Midori Hirano translates her classical music training into digital sounds, field recordings and subtle processing to create sophisticated electronic music. Under the moniker Mimicof she explores the realm of more experimental music and detailed rhythmic patterns combined with an idea of drawing melodic shapes and harmonies. Her new album Distant Symphony is going to be out on Karlrecords in June, release concert is on June, 11 live at Roter Salon.
While her last album Moon Synch was based on the recordings she has done with the Buchla analogue modular synthesizer, Distant Symphony was entirely recorded using the EMS SYNTHI 100. The different sounds of this instrument were first recorded as separate samples, then mixed and modified to create three full-length compositions allowing the listeners to experience the unique sonic diversity of the machine. For Hirano, Distant Symphony is a gesture of respect for the characteristics of SYNTHI 100, which – despite its fame as “vintage instrument” – has never lost the very modern beauty of its sound.
