About this Event
Build Character, not Self Esteem
Most of us want our children to become fully themselves: to grow into their full potential in life, find their unique gifts and share them with the world. And most of us have been taught that healthy self-esteem is a key ingredient. But what if focusing on self-esteem and happiness are actually detrimental to your child'sauthenticity and growth as a person? After studying child development and parenting for 30 plus years, I now believe that we have been focusing on the wrong things. Instead of focusing on individuality, we should be focused on embeddedness. Instead of focusing on making our children happy, we should focus on the development of character. And instead of focusing on our child's specialness, we should focus on humility.
Join us for this lively discussion where there will be plenty of time for questions and comments.
