In «SAY SURRENDER, STAY», choreographer Milla Koistinen, together with the students of the Dance Intensive program, explores the interfaces between architecture and dance.
The source of inspiration for this performance is Koistinen's current engagement with the work of Juhani Pallasmaa, a Finnish architect and pioneer of multisensory spatial concepts, for whom - in contrast to the omnipresent dominance of the eye - the interplay of all five senses is central to our relationship with architecture. What significance do the human senses have for the performing arts? And how can the principles of spatial design be transferred to choreography?
«SAY SURRENDER, STAY» looks for new ways to integrate choreography, sound and visual art into a common landscape. The audience is invited to become part of a soft, sensual space, to linger and spend time together.
12.05. 16:00 Family Friendly Environment
In the afternoon performances marked «Family Friendly Environment - All families welcome», parents and caregivers are warmly welcome together with their children. Although the performances are not specifically designed for young audiences, we aim to create a family-friendly environment, both outside and inside the studio. We understand if children cannot sit still throughout and families may wish to leave the performance in between or earlier. Unfortunately, we are not yet able to offer childcare. Admission is free for all accompanied children up to and including the age of 12.
