This workshop will introduce the fundamental principles of linear models and linear mixed effect models.
About this Event

Lead instructors: Saritha Kodikara

Linear models are powerful statistical techniques for modelling relationships between variables (e.g genes). Biological datasets are often rich with covariates that can impact the response variable. Linear models can reveal intricate relationships in these data. Linear mixed models, extending traditional linear models can address unwanted variation commonly encountered because of complex study designs.

This workshop will introduce the fundamental principles of linear models and linear mixed effect models, with hands-on applications for the analysis of gene expression and microbiome data, using base and limma R packages.

Note: this workshop follows ‘Introduction to experimental designs’ and will be a pre-requisite for the upcoming workshop ‘Multivariate analysis of omics data’.

Pre-requisite: R programming

Please note, $25 booking fee is fully refunded upon workshop attendance.
