Midweek Musical Matinee: "Modern Masterpieces"

Join pianist Keisuke Nakagoshi and violinist Patrick Galvin for a beautiful concert featuring music by three modern masters -- Claude Debussy, Sergei Prokofiev, and Amy Beach -- and a program that includes:
C. Debussy - Sonata in g minor for Violin and Piano, L. 140
S. Prokofiev - Sonata No. 1 in f minor for Violin and Piano, Op. 80
A. Beach - Romance, Op. 23
About Keisuke Nakagoshi
Pianist Keisuke Nakagoshi studied with Emanuel Ax, Gilbert Kalish, Menahem Pressler, and Paul Hersh and has performed on concert stages across the US, including the Kennedy Center, Carnegie Hall, and the Hollywood Bowl.
In 2009, Mr. Nakagoshi and Swiss pianist Eva-Maria Zimmermann formed the piano duo ZOFO, and their first CD was nominated for a Grammy award for Best Chamber Music/Small Ensemble.
He made his solo debut with the San Francisco Symphony performing Ingvar Lidholm’s Poesis with Herbert Blomstedt conducting.
Mr. Nakagoshi is currently Pianist-in-Residence at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music and serves as pianist on the production team for Opera Parallèle and West Edge Opera, and he is also a member of San Francisco Contemporary Music Players.
About Patrick Galvin
Patrick Galvin is a violinist performing works from Baroque to contemporary premiers.
Based in San Francisco, he performs regularly in Europe and North America both as a soloist and in chamber settings.
His first album, Violin Alone, features solo works by Telemann, Bach, and Ysaÿe. Galvin has commissioned and premiered numerous new pieces for violin and small ensembles, including multiple works from Bay Area composers.
His second album, with Australian pianist Jennifer Hou, titled Dear Camilla, was released in 2025 on the Navona label.
Patrick began 2026 with an Australian recital tour, and will be performing further concerts in Europe in Summer and Fall of this year.
In his performances, he enjoys addressing the audience to provide history and context for the music.
