On Friday 6th February, we’re pleased to welcome DJ Storm to the Subbie. Widely regarded as one of drum & bass’s most influential figures, Storm is a genuine pioneer whose roots trace back to the early-90s London rave scene.Co-founder of the legendary Metalheadz label with Kemistry and Goldie, Storm helped shape the sound and ethos of drum & bass at its most uncompromising and creative. Her deep, considered selections and razor-sharp mixing (on CDs!) have earned her the affectionate title “First Lady of Drum & Bass”, with a career that’s inspired generations of DJs and ravers alike.
After the tragic loss of Kemistry in 1999, Storm carried the music forward with integrity and passion, forging her own path and continuing to electrify floors around the world. A rare talent in any era, she’s as comfortable digging into deep roots as she is pushing the sound onward: expect both a lesson in history and a masterclass in feel from one of the culture’s true originals.
