🥾 4½ miles 🥾 Easy 🥾 Leader: Michelle 🥾This is a joint walk for Midlife Hikers (MLH) and Get Your Boots On (GYBO). We are sister groups, with GYBO being aimed at people in their 20s & 30s and MLH being aimed at people in their 40s & 50s.
Visit the suburb of Acomb, with it's pockets of surprises, in York, where we start and finish this evening walk. We start at Acomb Green and head towards the centre where we discover the latest street artwork. From here we wind local streets before reaching the expansive Hob Moor. We cross over the Moor and head over the bridge before reaching the lovely Railway Pond. Finding ourselves back onto Hob Moor, we then make our way to West Bank Park and pick our route through the peaceful gardens. After exiting the park we will visit the Holgate Windmill before heading back to the start of the walk via the streets of Acomb.
🪧 Meet outside the Crooked Tap on Acomb Green
🅿️ On-street parking around The Green and nearby streets, please be considerate of local residents
🚌 First 1 bus from York Station towards Chapelfields at 18:05, get off at Acomb Shops and it's a 5-minute walk to the meeting point. Return buses about every 30 minutes until late
🍺 After the walk, join us for a drink in the Crooked Tap
🐶 Dogs are welcome but must be kept on a lead at all times
Midlife Hikers is a Ramblers group for people in their 40s and 50s, and Get Your Boots On is a Ramblers group for people in their 20s and 30s. All our walks are led by volunteers. Non-members are welcome to try us out for free for up to 3 walks but then we ask you to join the Ramblers
