Join us for a captivating midday concert featuring violist Caitlin Doyle and cellist Dobrochna Zubek, performing music from their recent album From Dusk Till Dawn — a rich and evocative program of 20th and 21st century works.

This compelling program takes listeners on an emotional journey through a diverse musical landscape, weaving together contrasting harmonies, textures, and expressive worlds. From the folk-infused vitality and charm of Rebecca Clarke’s Two Pieces, to the vivid contrasts and aleatoric spirit of Witold Lutosławski’s Five Bucolics, the program unfolds with both intensity and nuance.

Contemporary works such as Caroline Shaw’s Limestone & Felt explore striking textures and rhythmic invention, while Shostakovich’s Song of Ophelia offers a poignant reflection on longing and loss. The program also features The Break of Dawn by Andrzej Zubek — a jazz-inflected, genre-blurring work that moves between lyricism and improvisatory energy — alongside lush, neo-romantic works by Reinhold Glière.

Polish-Canadian cellist Dobrochna Zubek is an internationally active soloist, chamber musician, and interdisciplinary artist whose career spans Europe, Asia, and North America. A passionate advocate for new music and cross-disciplinary collaboration, she has performed with artists including Peter Gabriel and José Carreras, and is currently a member of Quartetto Gelato.

Violist Caitlin Doyle is a dynamic performer and educator, performing with ensembles including Sinfonia Toronto and the Niagara Symphony Orchestra, and formerly a member of the Cecilia String Quartet. A dedicated pedagogue, she has taught at leading institutions including the University of Toronto and Western University, and co-founded Xenia Concerts, an organization focused on accessible musical experiences.

Together, Doyle and Zubek bring depth, sensitivity, and virtuosity to this intimate and powerful duo repertoire.
