About this Event
Celebrate Mid-Autumn Festival by immersing yourself in traditional Chinese art and food in our half-day workshop where you will create 6 delicious mooncakes and a paper lantern decorated with your own calligraphy.
What to Expect:
1) Mooncake Making
Start by crafting mooncakes with guidance from mooncake experts and professional chefs, Winnie and Theo from @too.muchsugar. You will prepare the mooncake pastry, fill it with salted egg yolk custard and pandan custard, and shape them using traditional moulds. While the mooncakes set and bake, we will move on to the calligraphy!
2) Chinese Calligraphy and Lantern Crafting
Learn the basics of Chinese calligraphy and practice writing characters of prosperity and good fortune. Then you will assemble your own paper lantern and decorate it with your calligraphy. You will be guided by May from @Inkjoygraphy, a talented calligrapher and artist with over 20 years experience, who will ensure your lantern looks amazing and reflects your unique style.
To finish, you can glaze your mooncakes, and enjoy some Chinese tea and light refreshments.
