Join us at the Capitol in Lansing to meet with your legislators on a day dedicated to advocating for libraries and celebrating the right to read!On Tuesday, April 28, 2026, the Michigan library community will unite in support of Michigan libraries at MLA’s annual Michigan Library Advocacy Day. Passionate and committed library advocates from all across Michigan will gather in Lansing to meet with legislators and build relationships while advocating for library funding and support and educating lawmakers about library issues.
Registration is only $25 and includes an Advocacy Day t-shirt, a boxed lunch, and a custom agenda. MLA will schedule a meeting between you and your legislator(s) or legislative staff.
Training for all advocates will be held via Zoom on Thursday, April 16, 2026, from 10:00-11:00 AM to help advocates prepare to meet one-on-one or in a small group with legislators or legislative staff. These visits help facilitate relationships between Michigan library workers and their legislators, and this is the most important part of Advocacy Day!
